2023 was a very busy year for the Missouri Hawthorn Chapter! I have to give a HUGE “THANK YOU” to our Board for all of their hard work that went into our events this year.
At the beginning of May, our Vice President, Chris Morgan, and I attended the National Legislative Day in Washington D.C. We were able to speak with Missouri representatives from both the House of Representatives and the Senate on issues providers are currently facing. As well, as our position on bills that are currently on the floor. Later that month our chapter hosted Payorpalooza, at Stoney Creek Inn in Columbia, MO. Where BCBS, UHC, Medicare, Medicaid and Homestate were in attendance. This event allowed them to give updates and a chance for the providers to gather around the table for discussion with them. We also received an update from the Missouri Hospital Association that day, on items that are in discussion at the state capital.
In September, we hosted our annual event at Downstream Resort and Casino in southern Missouri. At that 2-day event themed “Charging into the Future,” surrounded by other Revenue Cycle experts we not only received an updated from the Missouri Hospital Association but also heard speakers on topics such AI, Increasing Net Revenue with Charge Capture and Inclusive Leadership just to name a few. Just one month later, I boarded a plane and headed to Los Angeles for the Annual National Institute. Gathering with my fellow peers to grown and learn always fills my cup.
As I continue my term as the chapter President, I am excited about the momentum and growth our chapter is experiencing. Our Board of Directors is working hard to grow our chapter and provide valuable content for our members. Follow our events page to stay current on what is to come.
If you are contemplating joining AAHAM please check out the many benefits both national and local membership provide here or reach out to me personally and we can talk. Since joining in 2019, I have not only grown professionally but personally as well. I look forward to hearing from you or seeing you at one of our events soon!
